Project Description


This project focused on developing an advanced toolset for creating and integrating premium electric vehicle sounds, including Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS). Collaborating closely with the team, I contributed to the initial UX/UI concept, ensuring an intuitive and efficient workflow for users.

In addition to shaping the user interface, I played a key role in developing the audio algorithms that form the core of the toolset. These algorithms were designed to allow precise sound crafting while maintaining compliance with global regulations. The result was a platform that seamlessly combines creativity, technical precision, and ease of use for automotive sound designers.

Objectives

  • Create a highly intuitive interface that is equally effective for use at the desk and in the car.
  • Design the workflow to closely resemble that of a professional sound designer, ensuring familiarity and efficiency.
  • Ensure the system is non-distracting and seamlessly integrates into in-car use scenarios.
  • Deliver a top-notch design and user experience that sets a new standard compared to competitors.
  • Develop advanced yet simple-to-implement sound algorithms, balancing technical sophistication with ease of integration.

Solutions

  • Designed a dark-themed UI inspired by workflows from typical digital audio workstations (DAWs), based on observations of sound designers in action.  
  • Created a modern, minimalistic, and sleek interface that enhances usability and aligns with the cutting-edge nature of the tool.  
  • Focused on developing the FM (frequency modulation) algorithm within the suite, which turned out to be particularly effective for creating rich and dynamic electric driving sounds.
  • Collaborated closely with teammates responsible for other algorithmic components, ensuring a cohesive and technically robust solution.  
  • Fostered interdisciplinary collaboration between developers, stakeholders, and sound designers, leading and guiding the process to ensure alignment across teams.  

Outcomes

  • Delivered a cutting-edge UX/UI concept that seamlessly integrates into both desktop and in-car workflows, receiving positive feedback from sound designers and stakeholders.
